About Us
Mary, Queen of Carmel Association is composed of twenty member monasteries of Discalced Carmelite Nuns in the United States and Canada. These contemplative communities embrace the Carmelite life that St. Teresa of Jesus founded in the 16th Century. The member monasteries of this Association follow the renewed 1991 Constitutions of the Order of Discalced Carmelite Nuns.
The Association was established in 1978. The endeavor towards forming an association was in response to an invitation of the Church. The Association’s twelve charter members have eleven new members and now number twenty monasteries.
